What information is in the Digital Marketplace?

The Digital Marketplace consists of 5 core capabilities: Applications Catalog, API Catalog, Reusable Components, Knowledge Hub (FAQs, articles, blogs), and API usage tracking.

The Digital Marketplace is launching in phases, with the Applications Catalog, Application Development Guidelines, and API Catalog already in production.

The Knowledge Hub and API Usage Tracking and additional reusable components will launch in late 2021.

Where do I go for Digital Marketplace support?

If you have questions or need help with any of the features within the Cat Digital Marketplace, please email CatDigitalSupport@cat.com.

Who can access the Digital Marketplace?

The Digital Marketplace has been created to serve: a Public experience, Caterpillar Customers, Caterpillar Dealers and Caterpillar Employees.

Why am I seeing so many Timestamps in the API?

Timestamps record the time that a piece of information was created on an asset. This allows the consumer of the data the ability to properly allocate the time of generation to the key data element. Data can be generated at different times, and as such, a global timestamp could lead to inaccuracies in business intelligence. With the singular timestamp per data attribute, the consumer can be confident that they know when the machine experienced that condition or locate issues in asset operations when some of the attributes update and others don’t.

Why are Basic Daily Subscriptions not managed through Dealer Services Portal (DSP)?

The commercial timeline did not allow for DSP availability at the initial rollout. Data subscriptions have some unique system requirements that will involve development. Enterprise systems will be used when available.

Why does Caterpillar require approval for some use cases planned by dealers?

Caterpillar is making significant investments in the tools required to deliver data through the developer portal and at the same time it is investing in other offerings that use the data, like applications. Its primary objective of the review process is to ensure that the offerings supplement or fill service gaps that are not being served, instead of redundantly cannibalizing offerings that are funded separately.
